- Begin with the steering wheel in a straight-ahead, centred position. Switch off the ignition and allow any airbag system capacitors to discharge for at least 10 minutes before handling the steering wheel area.
- Thoroughly clean the existing button frame surround using an isopropyl alcohol wipe or panel prep solution. Remove all oils, dust, and any existing residue. Allow to dry fully before proceeding.
- Dry-fit the carbon fibre frame against the existing surround to confirm alignment. Check that the button cutouts align precisely with the existing steering wheel controls before committing to adhesion.
- Peel back the protective film from the adhesive backing (or apply a thin strip of supplied adhesive to the rear of the frame). Press the frame firmly into position, starting from the centre and working outward to eliminate any air pockets.
- Apply sustained pressure across the full surface for 30–60 seconds. Allow the adhesive to cure for a minimum of 2–4 hours before driving or handling the steering wheel aggressively.
- Inspect all edges to confirm a flush, gap-free fit. If any edge lifts, apply light pressure with a soft cloth and allow additional curing time.
⚠ Important: This is a cosmetic trim overlay. Do not attempt to disassemble the steering wheel airbag module or remove the steering column covers as part of this installation. If you are unsure about any step, we recommend having this fitted by a trim professional. Always confirm your exact Evoque build date, as early 2018 facelift models may share the L538 chassis but feature a revised steering wheel design.
