Installation Notes

Disconnect battery and allow engine to cool for at least 30 minutes.

Remove upper engine covers, serpentine belt, and valve cover to expose timing drive housing.

Set engine to TDC (Top Dead Centre) using crankshaft pulley marker and timing pin alignment tool.

Remove timing chain cover and drain any coolant passages behind it (use catch tray).

Unbolt old tensioner and guide arms. Note their orientation; photograph before removal.

Slip off old chain from sprockets. Keep sprockets in place (do not rotate crankshaft).

Fit new chain onto crank and cam sprockets, ensuring timing marks align perfectly.

Install new guide arms in exact OEM position. Use factory torque specs (typically 15–22 Nm for guide fasteners).

Install new tensioner and pressurize by rotating crankshaft 2 full turns clockwise. Verify chain slack reduces to <2 mm play.

Refit timing cover, valve cover, serpentine belt, and engine covers. Torque all bolts to spec.

Reconnect battery, start engine, and listen for smooth chain rattle-free operation. Check for leaks at cover seals.

Allow engine to idle 5 minutes and verify timing light confirms correct ignition advance.
