- Thoroughly clean the existing gear shift button surround using an isopropyl alcohol wipe or a lint-free cloth. Ensure the surface is fully dry before proceeding — any residue or moisture will affect adhesion.
- Remove the protective film from the pre-applied adhesive tape on the reverse face of the trim piece. Handle the chrome face carefully to avoid fingerprints.
- Align the trim piece carefully over the gear selector button surround, confirming the orientation matches before contact is made.
- Apply firm, even pressure across the entire surface for 30–60 seconds, working from the centre outward to eliminate any air pockets beneath the trim.
- Allow the adhesive to cure for at least one hour before exposing the area to direct sunlight or elevated cabin temperatures.
⚠ Important: Do not apply to surfaces that are damp, freshly conditioned with leather products, or recently cleaned with silicone-based dressings. These will prevent the adhesive from bonding correctly. If you need to reposition the trim, do so gently and immediately — once fully cured, repositioning may reduce bond strength.
