Installation Notes

Prepare the vehicle. Park on a clean, level surface with all doors closed and the engine off. You will be working beneath and alongside the vehicle, so a flat driveway or workshop floor with good lighting is ideal. Have a jack and axle stands available if additional underbody access is required.

Remove the factory rocker sill trims. The lower sill trim panels on the Defender 110 L663 are retained by perimeter clips and require no tools to remove. Work carefully around each clip using a plastic trim removal tool to avoid marking or cracking the panels — you will be refitting these at the end.

Mount the step brackets to the rocker panel. Using the supplied bolts and hardware, secure the mounting brackets to the existing OEM threaded fixing points along the underside of the rocker panel. No drilling is required — all fixing points are factory pre-existing locations.

Attach the step arm and motor assemblies. Slide the pre-assembled step arm and motor units onto the mounted brackets and secure with the supplied fasteners. Orient each motor inward toward the vehicle sill, ensuring the step arm articulates freely through its full deployment arc before final tightening.

Route and connect the wiring harness. Feed the supplied harness through the sill cavity and up to the door jamb area on each side. Connect the plug-and-play connectors to the factory door trigger wiring — no cutting, crimping, or splicing is required. Secure all excess cabling using the included clips and conduit to prevent contact with moving components.

Test operation before completing the install. Reconnect the battery, then open each door individually to confirm the corresponding step deploys fully and retracts cleanly on close. Adjust the motor arm deployment angle if needed for clearance. Once satisfied, refit the sill trim panels to complete the installation.
