The Range Rover Sport 2014-2018 has a problem with the Gear knob lever mechanism. Inside the knob is a small plastic part that breaks over time. It is a common issue.  usually, you would have to replace the entire gear assembly.  However, this part may be able to fix the gear mechanism and allow it to engage in a different drive mode.   DIY: to access the screw to open the knob, you need to take off the plastic with gear indicators.
