Installation

Cool the engine. Allow at least 15 minutes after shutdown before touching the cooling system. Hot coolant under pressure can cause serious burns.

Locate the expansion tank. On Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport, it's mounted on the passenger side of the engine bay, near the firewall. It's a translucent white or opaque plastic reservoir.

Unscrew the old cap. Grip the cap firmly and turn counterclockwise by hand. No tools needed. Some coolant may drip—have a cloth or small container ready.

Inspect the reservoir opening. Wipe away any debris or dried coolant residue with a clean cloth. Check that threads are intact and not stripped.

Install the new cap. Hand-tighten only. Turn clockwise until snug—do not over-tighten, as this can crack the plastic neck or cap.

Check coolant level. If low, top up with 50/50 pre-mixed coolant (Land Rover specification). Never use pure water.

Start the engine and inspect. Run for 2–3 minutes, then allow to cool completely. Check for any leaks around the cap seal.
Warning: Never open the cooling system while the engine is hot or running. Pressurized coolant can cause severe scalding. Always wait until the engine has cooled to ambient temperature.
