- Open the Defender 110's tailgate fully to expose the rear load sill area and gain clear access to the fitment surface.
- Thoroughly clean the sill surface using an isopropyl alcohol wipe or panel prep solution, removing all dirt, grease, wax, and residue. Allow to dry completely — this step is critical for adhesion performance.
- Dry-fit the treadplate against the sill to confirm alignment and positioning before removing the adhesive backing.
- Peel back the adhesive tape liner from the rear of the treadplate, taking care not to touch the adhesive surface.
- Starting from one end, carefully press the treadplate firmly into position along the sill, applying consistent pressure across the entire length for 30–60 seconds.
- Apply firm thumb pressure across all edges and corners to ensure full contact and eliminate any lifting points.
- Allow a minimum of 2–4 hours cure time before loading the vehicle or exposing the sill to moisture.
⚠ Important: Do not install in temperatures below 10°C / 50°F as adhesive performance may be compromised. Avoid washing the vehicle for 24 hours after installation to allow full bond strength to develop.
