- Open the Defender 110's tailgate fully and clear the rear loadspace sill of any existing dirt, grease, or moisture using an isopropyl alcohol wipe or equivalent cleaning solution.
- Allow the sill surface to dry completely — adhesion performance is significantly reduced on damp or contaminated surfaces.
- Dry-fit the treadplate against the sill without removing the adhesive backing to confirm alignment and positioning before committing.
- Peel back the adhesive tape protective liner and carefully align the treadplate to the sill, starting from one end and pressing firmly along the full length to ensure consistent contact.
- Apply firm, even pressure across the entire surface for 30–60 seconds to activate the adhesive bond fully.
- Allow a minimum of 2 hours cure time before placing any load across the treadplate. For best results, leave undisturbed for 24 hours in ambient temperature conditions.
⚠ Important: Do not install in temperatures below 10°C or in direct sunlight where surface temperatures may exceed 40°C, as this can affect the adhesive cure quality and long-term bond strength.
